Study Finds Permit Parking Unnecessary at Barclay's Center
A Department of Transportation study found that permit parking for residents near the new Barclay's Center in Brooklyn isn't necessary when the arena opens this fall, DNAinfo.com reports. One state senator said the idea of parking permits for the area was initially meant to discourage people from driving to the Barclay's Center and not actually to guarantee parking for area residents.

Park Slope Brownstones Protected from Developers
Hundreds of brownstones in Park Slope, Brooklyn have received landmark status and advocates are working to expand the area that will prevent the historic buildings from being turned into large developments, DNAinfo.com reports. The new status extends a historic district designation from the Grand Army Plaza area to 7th through 14th streets between 7th and 8th avenues.

Kindergarten Required for City Kids
New York City parents will soon be required to send their five-year-olds to kindergarten, according to the Brooklyn Eagle
